About Séléné Pinot Noir
Being a craftsman is far more than merely producing a product. It is about infusing each detail with heart, prioritising quality over quantity, and endowing each creation with a unique character. In every piece, a craftsman imprints their identity, environment, and culture. Therefore, when Sylvère Trichard claims to be more of a wine artisan than a mere farmer, it is not an empty phrase; it is his declaration of intent. His approach to winemaking extends beyond technique: it is about transforming each bottle into a genuine expression of the land that nurtured him.
Sylvère was fortunate to train under renowned figures like Jean-Claude Lapalu and Dominique Belluard, who taught him not only the secrets of winemaking but also the power of respecting and enhancing the essence of the terroir. This learning profoundly shaped his path, guiding him towards mindful winemaking, where the land, climate, and local traditions are the true protagonists.
With this clear vision and with the unwavering support of his wife Mathilde, in 2012, he decided to reclaim the four hectares of vineyards that belonged to his grandmother, located in the picturesque town of Blacé, in the heart of Beaujolais. There, each vineyard tells a story, and Sylvère ensures it is given a voice through his wines.
Adhering to biodynamic principles and respecting the lunar calendar, Sylvère tends his vineyards with a balance of tradition and sustainability. Although he does not pursue formal certification, his commitment to environmental stewardship is undeniable. Thus, the grapes for Séléné Pinot Noir come from pinot noir vines ranging from 20 to 80 years old, planted on sandy clay soils over granite. This unique soil imparts minerality and freshness, while the age of the vines adds depth and complexity to each sip.
Séléné Pinot Noir blends tradition and sensitivity, allowing the pinot noir to speak for itself: vibrant aromas, impeccable freshness, and a natural elegance that captures the essence of Beaujolais.
