About Robert J. Mur Reserva Brut

Robert J. Mur Reserva Brut is made with a selection of base wines of the Xarel·lo, Macabeo and Parellada native varieties by Robert J. Mur in the D.O. Cava.

Located in the home of cava, Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, the Robert J. Mur winery has a long family history. Their work has been passed down from generation to generation, whilst at the same time they have worked to incorporate the latest technology to their processes. This is reflected in the creation of new facilities in the winery and the redesign of their bottles.

Robert J. Mur Reserva Brut comes from the 48 hectares of the winery’s vineyards located between Alt and Baix Penedès (Barcelona). Lying in clay-calcareous soils, close to the Mediterranean Sea and at an altitude of between 200 m and 600 m, the vineyards are managed sustainably respecting their natural growth cycles. The harvest is carried out manually in the morning to take advantage of the cool of the night, and put in boxes according to variety.

In the winery, the grapes go through low pressure pneumatic presses to extract the must without plant extracts. They then macerate lightly with the skins at a low temperature. Each variety used to make Robert J. Mur Reserva Brut is vinified separately in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Following the traditional Champenoise method, the second fermentation happens in the bottle with specially selected yeasts and with a minimum aging time of 20 months.
