About Pierre Frick Riesling Rot Murlé
The plant kingdom is much more complex than we imagine. The truth is that plants have their own communication system based on chemical codes and recent studies have shown that they have a high capacity to perceive sound waves and understand what they mean. But there’s more. According to Dorothy Retallack, an organist, mezzo-soprano and author of the book The Sound of Music and Plants, different genres of music have different effects on plants. While country music has a neutral effect on plants, jazz seems to please them. So, following this opinion, playing music for plants or using music therapy may be a good solution to preserve and improve their growth. Pierre Frick shares this belief and, since 1981, when he joined the Demeter biodynamic certification, all his work has been moving towards a holistic approach. So much so that he has become one of the pioneering biodynamic winegrowers in Alsace (France) and, of course, music is part of his work methods.
The result of this holistic dedication lies in his 12 hectares of vineyards on predominantly clay and limestone soils in the AOC Alsace. From here they make Pierre Frick Riesling Rot Murlé. A Riesling cuvée where organically grown grapes are combined with biodynamic ones. His obsession with achieving the best balance of the plant results in a good ripening of the grapes and creating a better quality of must. The work is artisan and the harvest takes place when the grapes reach optimum ripeness. In the winery the grapes are pressed and the resulting must ferments spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine then matures on fine lees for 6 months in old oak barrels. Finally, it is bottled unfiltered, unclarified and without adding sulphites. The wine is then capped with a stainless steel stopper to preserve it.
Considering that Pierre Frick makes experimental wines with innovative practices like music therapy, Pierre Frick Riesling Rot Murlé is a Riesling that encourages you not to focus on discovering the variety’s characteristics, but to let yourself be carried away by the sensations offered by the wine itself. Pure harmony!

Pierre Frick Riesling Rot Murlé 2019 is an aromatic white wine with intense aromas of white fruit, tropical notes and herbal hints. The palate is light, tender and dynamic. A wine with well-integrated acidity, a pleasant mid-palate and a fresh and salty finish with menthol notes. |
