About Pequeñas Puertas La Peli

Pequeñas Puertas La Peli is an organic red wine aged in wood, crafted from the Garnacha grape by Proyecto Zorzal in the DO. Navarra region. 
 
Proyecto Zorzal is a family-owned winery established with the aim of capturing the utmost expression of a historic landscape. Wines under the DO. Navarra and DOCa. Rioja designations are crafted by the Sanz brothers, inspired by the passion instilled in them by their father Antonio Sanz from a young age. Now, alongside the audacious Argentine winemaker Matías Michelini, they have developed a new line of single-parcel wines with very limited production.
 
Pequeñas Puertas La Peli is made from the indigenous Garnacha Roya, a nearly forgotten grape variety that the Sanz brothers and Matías Michelini are striving to revive in the Navarrese village of Fitero, in the La Carbonela area. The vineyard is organically farmed, without the use of chemical products, and the harvest is manual at the optimal moment of ripeness. 
 
In the winery, Pequeñas Puertas La Peli is crafted as an orange wine. That is, the destemmed grapes ferment with their own skins in a 1,000-litre vat, and once the process is complete, they are pressed and aged for 15 months in used 500-litre oak barrels.
 
Pequeñas Puertas La Peli is a most chameleonic red wine. It is produced as an orange wine, visually reminiscent of a rosé, with an aroma that evokes a white, yet on the palate, it is unmistakably a red.

Pequeñas Puertas La Peli 2019 is a lithe red wine suffused with aromatic fragrances that are more reminiscent of a white than a red. Upon tasting, one discerns that it possesses the delightful profile of a red, with pronounced acidity and refined tannins.
