About Occhipinti Siccagno

Occhipinti Siccagno is a wine rated as an IGT Terre Siciliane monovarietal Nero d'Avola red wine produced by Arianna Occhipinti.

Arianna Occhipinti loves her land and her vines. She loves her native vines and strives to give back what they give her in the most respectful and natural way possible: preserving the biodiversity of her vineyards and their surroundings. Therefore she does not use herbicides or chemical products in the vineyard or in the winery, obtaining simply the grapes that the land provides naturally with its characteristics and histories. She cultivates 10 ha of vineyard and 15 ha of olive trees, and farms them all organically.

The vineyards for Occhipinti Siccagno are trained in Guyot and in Alberello style (little tree in Italian). They are located about 280 metres above sea level and are cultivated organically, without using chemical products to treat them. They have an average age of 35 years and their soils are of medium consistency, consisting of calcareous sands.

Occhipinti Siccagno ferments with natives yeasts and macerates with the skins for around 25 days. Once the wine is fermented, it is refined by ageing in Slavonian oak barrels for a period of 16 to 22 months. To respect the structure of the wine and its aromas to the full, it is bottled without filtering or clarifying, although slight precipitates may appear in the bottom of the bottle.

Occhipinti Siccagno is a wild red wine that is fresh and at the same time elegant, with a pleasant presence of red fruit.
2016 Occhipinti Siccagno 2016 is a wine that offers typical aromas of grapes on the nose: notes of ripe plums, black currant and spices. On the palate it is refined and at the same time full of vigour. It is a complex and enveloping wine with a lovely freshness.
