About Muros Antigos Loureiro

Muros Antigos Loureiro is a white wine made by Anselmo Mendes with the native Loureiro variety in Vinho Verde, in Minho (Portugal).
 
Recognised by experts as one of the greatest Portuguese wine producers, Anselmo Mendes has been able to innovate and reinvent the local Albariño, Loureiro and Avesso varieties like no one else. A producer of varietal wines that tell stories of the land they come from, in Monçao, he seeks maximum expression rather than perfection. Great wines that everyone likes.
 
Muros Antigos Loureiro comes from 7-year-old vines planted on granite soils that are poor in organic matter. Under the influence of the Atlantic and cultivated in a traditional way, the grapes are harvested manually in small boxes once they reach optimum ripeness. 
 
In the winery, the Muros Antigos Loureiro grapes are pressed and destemmed and the resulting must is cold clarified for 48 to 72 hours. A long fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature. Finally the wine ages on lees for 3 months with periodic bâtonnages.  
 
Made by a brilliant viticulturist who knows how to extract the best of the native Loureiro variety, Muros Antigos Loureiro is an opportunity to enjoy a wine that exudes tension, freshness and minerality for a very good price.

Muros Antigos Loureiro 2022 is an aromatic white wine with a fragrant nose of white fruit accompanied by notes of orange blossom and touches of aromatic herbs. In the mouth, it is direct, clear, and fresh. A joyful wine with a marked acidity and a mineral finish.

Muros Antigos Loureiro 2020 is an aromatic white wine with citrus fragrances, floral notes, mentholated touches and hints of flint. On the palate it is fresh, creamy and mineral. A wine with vibrant acidity, marked salinity and a long finish with floral and citrus notes.
