About Muga Rosado
It is neither the oldest nor the largest in Rioja, yet Muga is undoubtedly one of the most iconic and esteemed wineries in the region. With over 90 years of history, this family-run winery has achieved something few can: remaining true to its roots while continuing to innovate. Founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño, it has witnessed generations of passion and dedication to viticulture, always striving for excellence.
What sets Muga apart from other ventures is its reverence for tradition, such as being one of the few Spanish wineries with its own cooperage, where oak wood is crafted in the classic style, as it was done in ancient times.
Among its creations, we cannot fail to mention the king of rosés: Muga Rosado. A genuine tribute to the land of La Rioja, crafted with a blend of garnacha, viura, and tempranillo varieties, cultivated at an altitude of 480 meters, in clay-limestone soils, with a perfect climate that combines Atlantic, continental, and Mediterranean influences. During the production process, the grapes are meticulously selected, destemmed, and macerated for 12 hours before fermenting in wooden vats of nearly 2,000 litres for 20-25 days at a controlled temperature of 18°C. After fermentation, the wine remains in wooden vats for 2 months in contact with its fine lees, imparting it with unique complexity and elegance.
Muga Rosado is, without a doubt, the rosé among rosés. A wine that continues to captivate its loyal followers year after year... and they are many! For when you seek versatility and elegance, this rosé wine from DOCa. Rioja consistently rises to the occasion.
