About Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva

Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva is a red wine from La Rioja produced by Bodegas Muga. This wine is a blend in which Tempranillo (80%) dominates, accompanied by Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano (which together represent 20%).

The grapes come from vineyards located in the highest part of the winery. They grow on calcareous clay and alluvial soils.

The grapes used to produce Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva are always the last to enter the winery. Thus they have reached optimum ripeness and have passed a first selection in the vineyard. Having undergone the second process of selection in the winery, the grapes are fermented in oak tanks of 10,000 kilos without any temperature control or yeast.

The maceration, depending on the circumstances, can be prolonged for 20 days. Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva is then aged for one year in oak tanks of 16,000 litres, after a miniumum 36 months aging in oak barrels, it spends another 36 months in bottle.

Before marketing, Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva passes through a process of clarification with fresh egg white.

Bodegas Muga is located in the neighborhood of La Estación, in Haro, a town with a historic winemaking tradition.

Bodegas Muga has its own cooperage, something very rare nowadays. Its oak wood is used in the winemaking process.

Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva 2014 is a concentrated red wine with complex aromas of red and black forest fruits, toasty notes and hints of licorice. On the palate it is smooth, silky and round. A medium-bodied wine with mature tannins, lively acidity and an elegant finish.

2010 Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva 2010 is a perfect balance between concentration and subtleness. A wine that has become more delicate and deep with the ageing. The fruitiness has developed towards more tertiary aromas, where the violet aromas of its youth have turned into more orange, mature tones. A great wine within the Gran Reservas from Rioja.
2006 Balanced and full bodied. Consistent and full, there is lively acidity and integrated wooden touches. It is tasty, expressive and suggestive, with notes of ripe grapes. Long and persevering, it has a nice wide end.

Intense ruby with red hues.

With hints of fruit and aging. Ripe red fruits and notes of good wood blend with spicy nuances and leaves memories of snuff. It is a classic wine that has a character and a very current vitality.

Nice maroon colour with light brick-red reflections. Clean and bright wine with elegant dense tears.

Powerful, elegant and seductive aromas. One of the best aromatic sets. Leather, fine cigars, multiple spices, very ripe fruit, thick chocolate, liquorice and subtle mineral touches are perceived... They are all very balanced and harmonious, without standing one over the others. It is worth mentioning that the subtle floral aromas found in other vintages are not felt in this one.
2001 A powerful attack, balanced and yet syrupy smooth. Very long and honest aftertaste.

Garnet colour with good robe and slight brick-red hues around the edge

On the nose, aromas of spices and chocolate, wrapped up in fruit which is almost like a liqueur.
A majestic entry, both substantial and enveloping. It possesses a meaty stride, immensely flavorful, with a silky texture. The bouquet is alluring and makes a captivating return. The acidity is stellar, and the balance, impeccable. Tannins are smooth and superbly integrated. The finish is exceedingly long and persistent. It is clear and exceedingly luminous. The tears are graceful and concentrated. The nose is met with powerful, refined, and enticing aromas. It presents one of the finest aromatic arrays. Leather, delicate tobaccos, a plethora of spices, intensely ripe fruit, thick chocolate, licorice, and delicate minerals... All are beautifully balanced and harmonious, with none overshadowing the others. It is noteworthy that the subtle floral scents found in other vintages are absent here.
