"It is only natural that fine wines are delectable, yet my ambition is to craft exquisite wines at a price point accessible to the masses." Guided by this ethos, Andrew Bailey, a former cricket player and wine distributor, began to produce his own wines in his native Marlborough, on the South Island of New Zealand. An avant-garde winery, Misty Cove, draws its name from the mist-shrouded cove nestled within the stunning landscape of "Marlborough Sound", a renowned tourist haven where the beach, pristine forest, and sea water evaporated by the warmth of the sun coalesce, not only creating a scene of enigmatic beauty but also facilitating the production of internationally acclaimed white wines.

This is exemplified in Misty Cove Landmark Chardonnay, a white wine crafted from the chardonnay grape variety, profoundly influenced by Old World winemaking techniques to showcase the attributes and characteristics of the Fareham Lane vineyard. Sustainable farming practices are employed and the harvest is meticulously handpicked at the peak of ripeness. In the winery, whole bunch pressing is conducted, and the resulting must is allocated, one-third to new French oak barrels and the remainder to seasoned French oak. Here, it ferments with indigenous yeasts and, following malolactic fermentation, the wine matures on its lees for six months.
