About Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de San Vicente
Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de San Vicente is a red wine from the DOCa. Rioja, crafted by Granja Ntra. Sra. De Remelluri, a winery acquired by Jaime Rodríguez Salis and Amaya Hernandorena in 1967. They were responsible for restoring all the ancient lands lost years ago.
The climate in Rioja Alavesa is Mediterranean with a significant influence from the Bay of Biscay, albeit moderated by the Sierra de Cantabria, which acts as a natural barrier. There is less rainfall, more aridity, and a lesser temperature contrast compared to other areas of Rioja. This results in a delayed ripening of the grapes.
This wine is a blend of tempranillo, garnacha, graciano, and viura sourced from vineyards belonging to some of the finest winegrowers in the villages near the winery, Labastida and San Vicente de la Sonsierra. For years, these grapes have been used in the production of Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de San Vicente.
The vineyards are situated on poor limestone terraces formed by sandstones and marls. The soil is clay-limestone in nature.
Regarding viticulture, traditional methods are employed. Harvesting is done manually using 20 kg boxes. Once the harvest is completed, a selection of the grape clusters is carried out both in the field and on the sorting table.
Fermentation is conducted with indigenous yeasts, and the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and vats.
Discover more about the Lindes de Remelluri project:
Lindes de Remelluri is the result of the artisanal work of winegrowers from small villages and hamlets surrounding Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri, who uphold the finest 18th-century viticulture. It is a social project that highlights the lifelong work of the winegrower, reviving old, mountainous vineyards perched on the Sierra. A collection of six wines, one for each village, whose differing soils and orientations offer unique village wines.
