About Les Foulards Rouges La Soif du Mal Blanc
A true gem. A cult classic. The last great film of the film noir genre. Written and directed by Orson Welles, La Soif du Mal is a film that has made history. If your film library is incomplete without this classic, then your wine cellar should certainly include Les Foulards Rouges La Soif du Mal Blanc, the eponymous white wine crafted by Jean-François Nicq at his winery Les Foulards Rouges.
Indeed, art is the driving force behind this winery, named in tribute to the writer Frédéric Fajardie, from whom the moniker of one of his works is borrowed. Thus, in the Eastern Pyrenees - specifically in the Pièmont des Albères (in the south of France) - Nicq tends to the 15 hectares that stretch up to the border with Spain, on granitic soils that are highly acidic and poor in nutrients, where it has been necessary to add organic matter to promote vine growth. This entire terrain, situated less than 10 km from the Mediterranean Sea, is cultivated biodynamically, naturally, without the use of any chemical products. From the outset, this has been the primary goal for Nicq, who has put forth great effort to restore the microbial life of the area. Sheep manure and organic fertilizers are essential in the day-to-day operations, ploughing with animal traction with the help of Uma, a young mule that Nicq acquired in 2019.
The Muscat and Macabeu grapes will be pivotal in the production of Les Foulards Rouges La Soif du Mal Blanc. After managing their yields, and ensuring that the vines produce only a few clusters of high quality, Les Foulards Rouges La Soif du Mal Blanc is meticulously hand-harvested in 13-kilogram boxes. At this stage, the grapes are collected at their optimal ripeness, fresh, light, and well-balanced thanks to the coastal proximity, which provides moisture and softens the thermal contrast. Les Foulards Rouges La Soif du Mal Blanc is directly pressed and transferred to stainless steel vats where it will ferment completely naturally using indigenous yeasts. Here, resting on its lees, Les Foulards Rouges La Soif du Mal Blanc will mature for four months, culminating in a white wine of cult status that you simply must experience.
2022 | Les Foulards Rouges La Soif du Mal Blanc 2022 is a vivacious and fragrant wine, perfect for social gatherings and casual meet-ups. It boasts a robust bouquet, replete with the fresh scents of pears, peaches, and blossoms. On the palate, it presents a taut and harmonious profile, both refined and flavorful. Exquisitely graceful. |
