About Leon Barral Jadis
Léon Barral Jadis is a natural red wine coupage of the Syrah, Cariñena and Garnacha Tinta varieties made by Domaine Léon Barral in the A.O.C. Faugères in Languedoc-Roussillon, France.
The grapes used to make the Léon Barral Jadis wine come from vines aged between 30 and 60 years old in plots with schist soils, facing south. When the grapes reach the winery, they macerate in cement tanks for three to four weeks. The must is then placed in an old vertical basket press. The wine ages in oak barrels, 10% of which are new, for 24 to 26 months, depending on the vintage.
Didier Barral is a respected member of the biodynamic movement in France and has pioneered many innovative agronomic techniques that he has used in his vineyards with the aim of implementing a respectful and self-sustaining system. Didier Barral revived an ancient production method that had almost been forgotten and his influence is making waves among other producers who are now confirming that Didier Barral’s ideas and practices translate into results. Through this work he produces organic, living wines that age wonderfully with care and respect.
2015 | Léon Barral Jadis 2015 is a red wine with aromas of ripe red fruits on the nose, accompanied by spicy, leathery and earthy notes and a touch of dark chocolate. On the palate it is concentrated and well structured with a crisp acidity. A long and expressive wine with a fruity finish. |
