Château Cheval Blanc Le Petit Cheval

2021
2014

Red wine Aged in wood. 18 months in French oak barrels.
About Château Cheval Blanc Le Petit Cheval
A Château Cheval Blanc Le Petit Cheval is a red wine coupage made with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, classified as an AOC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru wine made by Château Cheval Blanc.
Château Cheval Blanc is one of the great châteaux of Bordeaux. It produces some of the most famous Cabernet Franc wines in the world. It is located in Saint-Émilion, almost on edge of Pomerol, right in the middle of two very marked styles. Their wines use about the same proportion of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, which means they can be enjoyed soon after bottling, whilst also having a very long life in the bottle.
The Château Cheval Blanc vines are spread over a total area of 39 hectares with average yields of about 35 to 40 hectolitres per hectare. The soils are made up of gravel and sandstone on a clay subsoil. All plots are harvested by hand into 20 kg boxes. Each plot is vinified separately and during the process, they are selected for use in the different wines.
Château Cheval Blanc Le Petit Cheval is aged for about 13 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new and the rest have only been used for one other wine. The wine is clarified with two egg whites per barrel to leave it clear of suspended particles. Finally, the wine is gently filtered and bottled.
Château Cheval Blanc Le Petit Cheval is a fantastic Grand Cru that is elegant, fine and sumptuous, making it perfect for venturing into the mystery of the Grand Cru classé A wines. A wine that can be enjoyed relatively young but that also has great aging potential.
2012 | Le Petit Cheval 2012 is a gourmet wine that is unctuous and subtly harmonious. The nose is dominated by black fruit, cassis and black cherries, mixed with the freshness of mint and liquorice. On the palate it is direct with a balanced acidity. The mid-palate is dense and delicate at the same time. It has a creamy texture and the tannins give it density and power. The finish is lingering and fresh. |
