About Le Lion de la Fleur de Boüard
Le Lion de la Fleur de Boüard is a red wine from the AOC Lalande de Pomerol produced by Château La Fleur de Boüard. It is a coupage of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
Château La Fleur de Boüardis a winery in Lalande founded in 1998 by Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, who is also co-owner of the Château Angelus, a 1er Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Emilion. It is located on the right bank of the Garonne, bordering the Pomerol plateau, near Saint-Emilion.
The vineyards for Le Lion of the Fleur de Boüard cover a total of 25 hectares. Seventeen have clay soil with gravel in the subsoil and are found on the Neac plateau, and the remaining eight are planted in plots with large gravel and 15% clay. They are all harvested by hand.
Le Lion of the Fleur de Boüard is produced by the owner of the winery, Hubert de Boüard de Laforest. At the beginning of the winemaking process the grapes undergo a pre-fermentation maceration at a temperature of 4 to 8ºC. Alcoholic fermentation then takes place in barrels and truncated conical tanks, and malolactic fermentation takes place exclusively in barrels. Lastly, the wine is aged in oak barrels from the Tronçais forest, 15% of which are new, for a period of about 12 months. All racking is performed by gravity to respect the wine as much as possible.

2015 | Le Lion de la Fleur de Boüard 2015 is a smooth and powerful wine that intensely expresses fruit rounded by 12 months of ageing in the barrel. It is a pleasant, balanced and quite lingering wine. |
