About La Vinya del Vuit
La Vinya del Vuit is a red wine produced by La Vinya del Vuit in Gratallops (Tarragona), D.O.Q. Priorat.
Since 2001, eight oenologists (‘vuit’ means eight in Catalan) among which are Sara Pérez and René Barbier, got together to share their ideas and create a different and unique wine, year after year, using recovered vineyards and following traditional vinification methods.
La Vinya del Vuit is a wine made with Carignan and a small amount of Grenache, from a 70-year-old vineyard located in Gratallops. This vineyard is planted on crushed licorella soils, it is managed organically, tilled with mules and respecting the vineyard and its surroundings to the fullest.
The harvest is carried out manually and the grapes are transported to the winery in small boxes. Once they arrive, they go through a spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. After the fermentation, they rest for 20 months in 300-litre second- and third-use oak barrels.
Only 1800 bottles of which is undoubtedly one of the best vintages of La Vinya del Vuit.
