About Julien Guillot Mâcon Villages
“I look for finishes that reflect the wine’s terroir as authentically as possible.” Following this premise Julien Guillot faithfully showcases the unique characteristics of Clos des Vignes du Maynes. A historic vineyard in the small village of Cruzille, in the Mâconnais (southern Burgundy) whose origin dates back to 1910 and which was acquired by his ancestors in 1952. Following a legacy that has never used chemical products that could damage such a prestigious terroir, Guillot is committed to biodynamics and, following the most natural methods, makes joyful and generous wines to share.
This is clear to see in Julien Guillot Mâcon Villages, a white wine made from the Chardonnay variety born and produced in this highly prized clay-loam terroir of Burgundy (France). These old vines have been cultivated for more than 20 years following a seasonal approach (spring, summer, autumn and winter) and where biodynamics is the cornerstone of all agricultural treatments. The grapes are harvested by hand with selection in the vineyard and, in the winery, the grapes pass over a sorting table. They are then carefully pressed and the resulting must is left to clarify for 6 to 18 hours. Fermentation happens spontaneously with native yeasts and no added SO2. Finally, the wine is aged for 12 months in large vats to maintain its freshness. Once ready, it is lightly filtered before bottling.
Aiming to bring out the geology of the site in each wine, Julien Guillot Mâcon Villages is a wine that is faithful to its terroir. A tasty, lively and mineral wine that lives up to the prestige of its origin.
2021 | Julien Guillot Mâcon Villages 2021 is a creamy white wine with aromas of stone fruit, tropical notes and mineral hints. On the palate it is silky, saline and elegant. A medium-bodied wine with a velvety texture, noticeable acidity and a long, saline finish. |
