About Henri Bourgeois Sancerre
Did you know that sauvignon blanc is one of the few white wines that can speak of its origin with just a sip? Indeed, quite literally. Its freshness, character, and that subtle minerality that sets it apart are no coincidence: they stem directly from the soil where it is grown. And when we talk about origin, there is a corner of the world where this varietal truly shines: the Loire Valley in France, and more specifically, in Sancerre.
It is in this terroir, particularly in the charming village of Chavignol, where the Bourgeois family has been devoted to the art of viticulture for an impressive 10 generations! However, it was in the 1950s when everything changed. With a visionary outlook, Henri Bourgeois took a bold step forward by focusing on two hectares in the hills of Chavignol, an area that was relatively unexplored at the time. His audacity marked a turning point. Thus began a new era for the family... and for sauvignon blanc.
Today, this legacy continues with labels like Henri Bourgeois Sancerre, a clear demonstration of what happens when exceptional soil meets wise and patient hands. Cultivated in clay-limestone soils, this wine reflects the purity and elegance typical of Sancerre.
Its production aims to preserve that essence to the fullest: fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures (between 15 and 18 °C) to maintain the freshness and the citrus and floral aromas so characteristic of the varietal. Then, it rests for 5 months on its lees, which imparts that touch of volume and creaminess that makes it so delightful on the palate.
The result is Henri Bourgeois Sancerre, a vibrant, expressive, and perfectly balanced white wine. Pure Loire.
