About Hacienda Lopez de Haro Gran Reserva
Hacienda López de Haro Gran Reserva is a red wine produced by Bodega Classica in D.O. La Rioja. The idea of Bodega Classica is to produce "contemporary classic wines" with a traditional production but a modern twist at the same time.
It is the first vintage of this Gran Reserva, following the footsteps of his younger brother López de Haro Crianza, which surely will become one of the best-selling wines next year.
Hacienda López de Haro Gran Reserva is made from a coupage of Tempranillo and Graciano varieties.
The grapes come from old vines in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, a town with a great wine tradition at the foothill of the Sierra Cantabria.
The estates are located on terraces beside the River Ebro. They have poor soils which shows a low production but high quality grapes.
The harvest is done manually and the grapes are transferred to the winery in small trailers.
The fermentation is performed in tanks of 30,000 kg at a controlled temperature of 28 ° C. After the fermentation, the grapes are macerated for 2 weeks.
Hacienda López de Haro Gran Reserva undergoes an aging in French and American oak barrels for over 30 months. Quarterly racking is applied.
After the barrel aging, the wine rests in the bottle for at least three years before going to market.
