About Geschickt Riesling G.C. Wineck-Schlossberg
Much more than grapes and terroir. A wine is not just fermented grape juice. A wine hides much more: memories, moments, laughter, friends, confidences... More than an aroma or a taste, the important thing about a bottle of wine is who you share it with. Any wine might be fine (as long as the company is good); however, let us give you a recommendation: Geschickt Riesling G.C. Wineck-Schlossberg.
Direct from Wineck-Schlossberg, one of the smallest and highest grands crus in Alsace (about 400 metres above sea level), comes this orange wine that has been macerating for 30 days. Thanks to this, Riesling manages to showcase all its flavour and power in a wine that for many has been “the great revelation”. Riesling fully unfolds in deep, mineral-rich granite soils, which warm up quickly in the spring.
Specifically, Geschickt is a family winery located in Ammerschwihr(a few kilometres north of Colmar), which has its roots in the early 1950s. In total, this family, which the business is named after, is responsible for biodynamically cultivating four hectares of vineyards spread among some of the area’s Grands Crus. This philosophy, which seeks total respect for the environment, began to be implemented in 1993 and since then has been the roadmap currently followed by Arnaud Geschickt and Aurélie Fayolle. In the winery they both work with minimal intervention, using spontaneous fermentation and adding no products or nutrients. These include Geschickt Riesling G.C. Wineck-Schlossberg and their oranges wines, where no sulphites are used. Finally, Geschickt Riesling G.C. Wineck-Schlossberg is aged for 12 months in amphorae and bottled unfiltered and unclarified.
So, now you know. If you want your memories to be unique and unforgettable, toast with a good glass of Geschickt Riesling G.C. Wineck-Schlossberg.
