About Fulcro Nas Dunas
Although many ventures have evolved from making homemade wine for personal consumption to commercialisation, Fulcro has managed to preserve the essence of its origins. Under the stewardship of Manuel Moldes and initially assisted by Rodri Méndez (Forjas del Salnés), their wines, fresh and authentic, embody the character of the terroir of the Valle del Salnés in Galicia, Spain, embracing a discreet profile and a limited production of merely 30,000 bottles per year. Nevertheless, despite not seeking grandeur, nor having any desire for it, the quality, authenticity, and purity of each of their wines do not go unnoticed in the slightest. It is no wonder that in the quest for wines with soul and a connection to their origin, leading wine gurus are considering Fulcro as a noteworthy reference within D.O. Rías Baixas.
An example of this expertise, Fulcro Nas Dunas is a white wine derived from old vines planted in schist soils (highly decomposed red slate). Albariño aged 45-67 years, cultivated respectfully with traditional techniques and harvested manually at the optimal moment of ripeness. In the winery, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts occurs in used oak barrels of 500 and 700 litres for 10-12 months. Afterwards, it remains in the bottle for approximately 19 months before being released to the market, thereby reaching its fullest expression.
With a limited production of only 800 bottles, Fulcro Nas Dunas is a white wine with pronounced acidity, a crisp texture, and a depth that captivates from the first sip. A distinctive albariño that captures the essence of the Atlantic and the Galician terroir, demonstrating that less can indeed be more.
2021 |
Fulcro Nas Dunas 2021 is a white wine distinguished by its subtle body and moderate aromatic profile. On the nose, it presents notes of nuts like almonds and hazelnuts, along with hints of hay and dry straw, contributing to its elegant complexity. There are also discernible iodised and balsamic touches. With an alcohol content of 12%, it offers a full development of aromas and flavours. Its acidity is high yet feels balanced, complemented by a creamy texture on the palate. |
