About Finca Allende Allende Rosado

“I have simply tried to listen to the land and act accordingly,” says Miguel Ángel de Gregorio, owner of Finca Allende. He is full of intuition, wisdom and a lot of passion for this Rioja terroir (Briones, La Rioja Alta) that has captivated him since 1986, and this is where he bottles the whispers of this land that he holds so dear.

Finca Allende Rosado is one of these whispers that is full of purpose and patience. A wine that breaks myths: the one that says that rosés are wines of the year, they are for the non-connoisseurs; wines that cannot be aged in barrels, and are low quality...

Miguel Ángel de Gregorio proves this is not true with his surprising rosé wines of extraordinary quality, like Finca Allende Rosado, a true gem from La Rioja made from a coupage where the Tempranillo and Garnacha varieties coexist in elegant harmony.

The clusters come from young vineyards with predominantly clay soils and deep gravel. The soil is cultivated following the plant’s natural cycles, using organic fertiliser with no herbicides.

To make Finca Allende Rosado, the clusters are pressed in a vertical press. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled low temperature (18°C). The resulting wine is aged for approximately 30 months in French oak Bordeaux barrels that are racked every four months. Finally the wine is bottled without being filtered.

Making long-aged rosés is not just a question of courage. It is a difficult task that requires a lot of knowledge, patience and passion for the land and the grapes. Miguel Ángel de Gregorio is a winemaker who takes a risk to offer us Finca Allende Rosado, a gem that deserves a lot more recognition. A low production of a wine that also promises an extraordinary bottle aging potential.
