About Fabien Jouves Skin Contact Maceration
Recent studies show that the oldest sibling in the family is the most responsible and intelligent. The youngest in the family, on the other hand, is more likely to break the rules. This generally leads to taking risks in life, preferring to be your own boss and achieve success on your own terms. The story of Fabien Jouves is a great example of this pattern. The youngest son of an old peasant family in Cahors, in the southwest of France, he always knew what he wanted. After studying the basics of oenology in Bordeaux, he decided to take over the family’s 44 acres and convert them to organic and biodynamic. He took the estate from just growing grapes for other wineries to making his own minimal intervention wines at his own project, Mas del Périé. That means he has become a leading new-generation winegrower, surpassing the quality standards of the Cahors area and, above all, of the Malbec variety, the king of grapes in this region.
His Fabien Jouves Skin Contact Maceration is a blend of the three varieties Ugni Blanc, Gros Manseng and Muscat of Alexandria grown on small plots of land without using any chemical products that could damage the natural balance of the terroir. Once the grapes are harvested by hand, they are destemmed in the winery and macerated with skins for 3 months in stainless steel tanks. They then undergo spontaneous fermentation using native yeasts. The wine is then aged in large foudres for 8 months.
Once Fabien Jouves Skin Contact Maceration is released, we find ourselves with a delicious, intense and fresh wine. A surprising orange wine full of fruit and a certain complexity that you will fall in love with.

Fabien Jouves Skin Contact Maceration 2019 is an aromatic orange wine with a slightly cloudy straw yellow colour and a nose of fine tropical fruit fragrances, citrus notes and mineral hints. On the palate it is broad, dense and smooth. A wine with a sparkling micro-bubble that brings freshness and vitality and a sweet bitter finish. |
