About Emilien Feneuil Cuvée Totum Millesime
“Artisan vigneron” is a French expression used to describe an artisan winemaker. In other words, this is someone who is involved in the entire production process, from grape growing to winemaking, and adopts an artisan and traditional approach to their work. Focussed on producing small quantities and in search of excellence, their aim is to achieve the most authentic expression of the terroir without affecting the environment. Emilien Feneuil is an organic and biodynamic vigneron who set up his small project in the village of Sermiens, in Champagne (France), to produce artisan sparkling wines, from a single vintage and meticulously vinified in used barrels.
Proof of his artisan work lies in Emilien Feneuil Cuvée Totum Millesime, a brut nature made from Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Petit Meslier grapes from a premier cru with calcareous soils that he owns in the village of Sermiens. This is a small collection of the 4 plots that have been cultivated organically and with biodynamic treatments. Once the grapes are harvested by hand and transferred to the winery, the selected grapes are pressed and fermented together with native yeasts in oak barrels that have been used for 5 or 6 wines. A second fermentation is then carried out in the bottle, following the champenoise method, and the wine is aged on the lees in the bottle for 3 years. It is not filtered or clarified and no dosage is added.
Vinous, elegant and very gastronomic, Emilien Feneuil Cuvée Totum Millesime reflects the sensitivity of this “Artisan vigneron” whose love of terroir and precision in his very limited production processes are truly marvellous.
2018 | Emilien Feneuil Cuvée Totum Millesime 2018 is a creamy sparkling wine with intense aromas of ripe white fruit, citrus notes, floral nuances and hints of pastry, toast and minerals. On the palate it is fruity, fresh and elegant. A dry champagne with fine bubbles, high acidity and a long, fruity mid-palate. The finish is persistent and saline. |
