About Domaine des Sablonnettes Menard le Rouge

In the world, there are figures who, through their struggle and determination, have achieved significant changes. Committed activists who have served as examples for many others. One such inspiring example was Augustus Menard. A vineyard labourer in Loire, France, who was one of the first to demand a fair price for his work, and whose activist spirit has been carried on by his son Joel and his grandson Jérémy. So much so that the family has even created a wine in his honour under the name Domaine des Sablonnettes Menard le Rouge, with a label depicting the red moustache that so characterised him and the hammer and pruning shears symbolising the struggle for workers' rights.

Produced in the heart of Loire (France), specifically in Rablay sur Layon, Domaine des Sablonnettes Menard le Rouge is a blend of gamay, chenin blanc, grolleau, and cabernet sauvignon. Sourced from the oldest plots of the 13 hectares of vineyards, cultivated organically and biodynamically, the harvest is done manually at the optimal moment of ripeness and the grapes are layered by variety in whole clusters. Afterwards, the grapes ferment with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, and finally, the wine remains in these same containers for a couple of months.

The love for the land and activism passed down by the Menard family is reflected in Domaine des Sablonnettes Menard le Rouge. A natural, vibrant, and lively wine that adheres to no other designation than "Vin de France", to have the freedom to create without limitations.
