Charlopin-Parizot Marsannay Les Echezots

2020

Tasting notes Charlopin-Parizot Marsannay Les Echezots 2020
Red wine Biodynamic.
About Charlopin-Parizot Marsannay Les Echezots
Historically, it was known as Echezeaux. Some of Vosne-Romanée’s namesake estates were offended and requested that the name be changed. However, despite the potential for confusion, Les Echezots is unmistakable in taste. This plot, located in the A.O.C. Marsannay, is completely unique, making it one of the best vineyards in northern Burgundy. Even Jancis Robinson has no hesitation in singling it out as one of the best potential premier crus in this denomination. Just in case that happens, there are some winemakers who have already prepared themselves and have taken the lead, like Philippe Charlopin, who makes Charlopin-Parizot Marsannay Les Echezots from here.
Les Echezots in particular is a very special vineyard. Its orientation in the mouth of a cool valley (with the resulting cold breezes) and its sun exposure in the mornings make it a late ripening plot. Here, the soils are very varied. They are a mix of clays, marls and limestones, with this mélange creating one of the richest soils in the area. Philippe Charlopin is a champion of biodynamics, so when it comes to Charlopin-Parizot Marsannay Les Echezots all these nuances are respected and reflected in each bottle of wine produced. This can only be done by a great master like Philippe Charlopin, who sees things before others catch on.
For the moment the grands crus and premiers crus have not found their place in the A.O.C. Marsannay appeared. This does not mean that the quality is not as good or even better! For the time being, prices remain low, at extremely competitive prices. We will need to be quick and try most of the bottles before the big denominations and recognitions appear and put them out of reach of people like us.
