Château Trotanoy 2019 is akin to a liquid poem, brimming with elegance and profundity. From the initial encounter, its intense aromas of ripe black cherries envelop you, accompanied by an earthy hint reminiscent of damp forest floors after rainfall. On the palate, the tobacco note and delicate cedar pencil add complexity, while a subtle graphite nuance suggests sophistication. The 2019 vintage is particularly remarkable for its astonishing clarity and precision, offering a firm structure and enveloping tannins. About Château Trotanoy

Château Trotanoy is a red wine made from 90% Merlot and the rest from Cabernet Franc, from the AOC Pomerol, Bordeaux. It is produced by Jean Pierre Moueix.

Jean Pierre Moueix is a company created in 1937 that began acquiring vineyards in the 1950s. Its vineyards in Pomerol enjoy exceptional features and have been considered among the best Crus in the area since the late eighteenth century.

The vineyards for Jean Pierre Moueix cover a total of 7.2 hectares and are oriented to the west. In their soils gravel predominates at altitude, but further down the proportion of clay increases. In the subsoil of the vineyard there is a bed of red gravel and an impermeable layer of hard iron earth that helps to retain the winter rains.

Château Trotanoy is made in the same way as Pétrus. It is vinified in small cement and stainless vats where it ferments for about 10 days and then undergoes a post-fermentative maceration with the skins for another week. Lastly, the wine ages for 18 months in French oak barrels, with 50% of these being new, or more depending on the harvest.

The name "Trotanoy" means "too troublesome" to grow, since the plots’ soil, a mixture of clay and gravel, solidifies a lot after it rains, and it is difficult to cultivate it.

Château Trotanoy will improve with the years in the bottle, since it has a great potential for ageing.

2014 Château Trotanoy 2014 has aromas of wild berries reminiscent of blackberries, berries, raspberries; and vegetable aromas such as pepper, mastic tree or green scrub. They are accompanied by aromas of new leather, humus, spices such as black pepper or clove wrapped in pipe tobacco, eucalyptus and red caramel. On the palate it is full and structured, with memories of vegetables, tobacco and red fruit, and a certain minerality.
