About Château Lafitte Orange
To restore a historic estate and give it back all its charm needs more than just money. The truth is that creating your own style, with character and personality, requires an enthusiastic and perfectionist team that truly believes in what they are doing. And that is what happened at Château Lafitte. A majestic 14th century farmhouse nestled in the heart of an exceptional setting in Aquitaine (France) which was acquired by Philippe and Brigitte Arraou, and has since resumed the production of quality wine. A savoir-vivre that, when their son Antoine joined the team in 2012, has become a project with a natural focus, fully committed to taking care of the environment.
One of their minimal intervention productions is Château Lafitte Orange, an orange wine made in the AOC Jurançon that is made from old Petit Manseng vines growing on the estate itself. These vines are cultivated using biodynamic agriculture with all the social, human, environmental and even astral processes required for Demeter certification and, once the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested by hand.
Château Lafitte Orange undergoes a minimal intervention winemaking process with no added viticultural products. The grapes firstly macerate for 21 days and then the must ferments and ages naturally in terracotta amphorae.
That means Château Lafitte Orange the result of history and sustainability combined. This wine is made in the old style in contact with skins and respecting the biodiversity of the environment. This winery’s philosophy is even on show with the bottle, made of terracotta to preserve the wine better.
2020 |
Château Lafitte Orange 2020 is an orange wine with a dark golden colour. The nose reveals fragrances of ripe white fruit, notes of yellow fruits and hints of chalky notes. On the palate it is fresh, broad and very mineral. A wine with noticeable acidity and very flexible tannins. |
