About Château de Beaucastel
It has even been said that “a bad vintage of Beaucastel is better than a good vintage of any other Châteauneuf-du-Pape” because both their whites and reds are examples of the very best to come out of the magical southern Rhône (France). The person responsible for this great reputation is undoubtedly Jacques Perrin, who took over the management of this important domain dating back to the 16th century and whose way of working brought it stardom. Now, their sons Jean-Pierre and François carry on the legacy with the same majesty, believing that the less intervention, the better the results and that, as a result, they will create expressive wines of marvellous quality.
An example of their expertise is Château de Beaucastel, a red wine made from the Garnacha Tinta, Monastrell, Syrah and Cinsault varieties grown in the soils that are so typical of the AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which are covered by large boulders (locally called “galets roulés”) that protect the vines from the daytime heat, storing it and releasing it during the night. A practical and natural way to even out the temperature differences between night and day. The grapes are cultivated using organic agriculture and the harvest is carried out when the grapes reach optimum ripeness. In the winery, each variety is vinified separately and it is in the blend that the wine showcases the characteristic Beaucastel style. It is then aged for 12 months in foudres.
The flagship wine of this emblematic winery lives up to its reputation. Château de Beaucastel stands out for its elegance, balance and depth. An ideal wine to keep in your cellar to appreciate its full aging potential.
