About Château Cap Saint-George
Due to its great geographical diversity, France offers wine-growing estates in an ideal environment: quality of life, beautiful landscapes, and wines that satisfy the most demanding palates. One of the family names that has been most visible and has managed to build an excellent portfolio of wine estates is undoubtedly the illustrious Janoueix family. As soon as Jean Janoueix started in the wine business in 1867, his son Joseph Janoueix, and later his descendants, saw the advantages of owning their own winery. This is how in less than 100 years they have acquired properties in some of the best places in Bordeaux: Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Pomerol, Saint Georges Saint-Emilion and Bordeaux Supérieur. Exceptional diversity and quality, the result of a meticulous and careful selection of terroirs and vines.
One of the estates acquired by the last Janoueix descendant, Jean Philippe Janoueix, is Château Cap Saint-George. A property with one of the longest histories in the region that, although recently purchased in 2014, its vineyards were once cultivated by the ancient Romans nearly 2000 years ago. This is one of the gems of the Saint Georges Saint Emilion denomination with a total area of 19 ha of limestone and clay soils and vines averaging 35 years of age. The winery’s flagship wine is Château Cap Saint-George. A blend made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes that are cultivated with respect and harvested separately by hand at the optimum point of ripeness. In the winery, the uncrushed berries are selected and vatted. Fermentation is carried out with native yeasts at 28°C max with daily pumping over for 25-30 days. The wine is then transferred to oak barrels (50% new and 50% one year old) where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and remains for 16-18 months before bottling.
Respect, precision and purity. Under these premises, Château Cap Saint-George presents itself as a fine, balanced and mineral wine. A unique blend that represents an exceptional terroir and that, without excesses and with Grand Cru techniques, beautifully achieves the maximum prominence of the fruit.
2022 | Château Cap Saint-George 2022 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of black fruits accompanied by wild flowers and hints of undergrowth. On the palate, it is fresh, succulent, and flexible. A medium to full-bodied wine with a noticeable acidity and supple tannins. The finish is long and persistent. |
