About Cascina degli Ulivi Montemarino

Cascina degli Ulivi Montemarino is a natural monovarietal Cortese white wine produced by Cascina degli Ulivi, from Piedmont.

Cascina degli Ulivi is a winery-farm that not only produces natural wine and cultivates its vineyards biodynamically, but also cultivates cereals, fruit trees and a market garden, raises livestock, and produces cheese and pasta. It is a fantastic example that illustrates what it means to follow the principles of biodynamics, striving to ensure that different elements and living beings that coexist harmoniously interrelate and complement each other.

The vineyards for Cascina degli Ulivi Montemarino are planted on calcareous white clay soils. They cover a total area of 2 hectares and are cultivated biodynamically. The strains are 60 years old on average, are pruned in Guyot style and produce about 40 hectolitres per hectare. The grapes are harvested manually.

Cascina degli Ulivi Montemarino is made by destemming the vintage when it arrives in the cellar and macerating it cold for a day or two with the must before beginning fermentation. Next, the must is statically cleaned by decanting and then fermented with native yeasts. Lastly, the wine ages on fine lees for 11 months in large 25 hectolitre used oak barrels. It is not filtered or clarified before bottling, nor are sulphurous products used during the whole process.

Cascina degli Ulivi Montemarino is a dry, floral and fruity white wine. On the palate it is fresh, powerful, savoury and rich, with an optimal depth and length.
2019

Cascina degli Ulivi Montemarino 2019 is a delicious orange wine. Golden yellow in colour, it appears elegant with floral and fruity notes combined with hints of toast, caramel and minerals. On the palate it is deep and flavoursome and well balanced between sweet and spicy. Long and persistent finish.
2016 Cascina degli Ulivi Montemarino 2016 is an orange wine with aromas of white fruit and ripe stone fruit with touches of sweet species. On the palate it is complex, rich and unctuous. A direct and elegant white wine with a mineral finish.
2014 Cascina degli Ulivi Montemarino 2014 is a rich, complex and spicy wine, with touches of ripe fruit aromas. On the palate it has the direct and stimulating character of the Cortese and at the same time a pleasant smoothness, especially after 2 or 3 years.
