About Bollinger R.D.
Bollinger R.D. is a champagne made by the Bollinger winery, in Ay, in the heart of the Champagne region.
Since its foundation in 1829 in the Montagne de Reims, Maison Bollinger continues to make and age its champagnes as it has always done, managing to imprint the famous Bollinger identity seal, synonym of quality and prestige, year after year.
Bollinger has 174 hectares of its own vineyards available to produce most of its wines. 85% of these vineyards are classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru, with two outstanding plots with pre-phylloxera vines, Clos Saint-Jacques and Chaudes Terres.
One of the most appreciated unique features of Bollinger are the reserve wines, bottled and aged in a corked magnum and classified by vintages, thus forming one of the largest reserves of this type of wine in the area.
Bollinger RD is a champagne made with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from vineyards that are 88% Grands Crus and the rest Premiers Crus. The soils are clayey-sandy with the presence of limestone.
The grapes are harvested at the optimum moment of ripeness using an exhaustive selection process, and are then fermented exclusively in oak barrels for over 5 years. The wine is aged in corked bottles for at least 8 years. It is a champagne with 3 grams of sugar per litre - an Extra Brut. The acronym RD means "recently disgorged" and the date of disgorgement is on the back-label.
It is the most distinguished champagne of the Maison Bollinger and is only produced in those vintages in which the quality of the grapes is exceptional. Great storage capacity.

2007 | Bollinger R.D. 2007 is a champagne with an elegant range of aromas on the nose where honey and brioche stand out. Gradually the spices (ginger, cumin, caraway) appear to harmoniously accompany its fruity notes (mirabelle plum, dried apricot) with a touch of fresh hazelnut. The mouthfeel is deliciously tense with white plum, walnut and anise. A complex and fresh, elegant and captivating champagne. | |
