Barbeito 5 Years Rainwater Reserva Medium Dry is a medium-dry fortified wine made by the Vinhos Barbeito winery, from the Tinta Negra Mole and Verdelho varieties in Madeira, Portugal.

The clusters used to make Barbeito 5 Years Rainwater Reserva Medium Dry come from vineyards in the Strait of Câmara de Lobos and Prazeres. When the grapes reach the winery, they are crushed with a pneumatic press and the resulting must begins to ferment until, at a precise moment, 96% wine alcohol is added to stop the fermentation just at the right point to get the final and desired level of residual sugar in the wine.

Barbeito 5 Years Rainwater Reserva Medium Dry ages for 5 years in French oak barrels. For this, the Canteiro Method is used, which involves selecting wines from the winery’s warehouses, which have been at a stable temperature throughout the year, and which will give a Barbeito that is very balanced in sugar and acidity.

Vinhos Barbeito dates from 1964 and is a family winery that works as a team with the philosophy of producing wines with the highest quality standards and establishing close relationships with farmers to continue making unique wines with the mark of the traditional Madeira style.
