About Arzuaga Crianza

Arzuaga Crianza is a red wine from Ribera del Duero by Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro, a winery founded in the 90s thanks to the Arzuaga Navarro family, namely, Florentino Arzuaga, after buying La Planta, located in Quintanilla de onésimo.
 

The climate in the Ribera del Duero is continental but with an Atlantic character. It is characterized by dry summers, long and harsh winters and a pronounced seasonal temperature fluctuation with moderate-low rainfall, about 350-500 mm per year. 

Arzuaga Crianza is a tempranillo  from La Maquinilla, the winery's oldest vineyard in La Plana, from vines over 20 years old planted on land about 911 metres above the sea. The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils.
The harvest is done manually and grapes undergo table selection in the cellar. Regarding the development, after stripping, the juice goes to stainless steel tanks to be macerated. Subsequently, an alcoholic fermentation takes place very slowly at a controlled temperature of 27 °C.

Finally, Arzuaga Crianza is aged for 16 months in French ad American oak barrels.

Arzuaga Crianza 2020 is an enthralling red wine, captivating with its deep cherry hue and violet highlights, presenting a pristine and luminous appearance. On the nose, it unfolds a tapestry of ripe red fruit aromas, interwoven with hints of balsamic that impart a refreshing quality. Upon tasting, it reveals a dense structure, with nuances of ripeness that harmonize with a subtle robustness. The finish astonishes with its roasted undertones.
2019

Arzuaga Crianza 2019 is an exceptionally robust red wine. The bouquet is intensely aromatic, replete with nuances where red fruit and spices predominate. On the palate, it boasts a formidable structure. It is graceful and expansive with a silky texture. The finish is enduring.
2018

Arzuaga Crianza 2018 is a mature red wine exuding scents of candied red and black fruits, complemented by spicy nuances and hints of balsamic and roasted elements. On the palate, it is full-bodied, velvety, and enduring. This wine boasts polished tannins and an extensive, highly spiced finish characteristic of its woody heritage.
2017

Arzuaga Crianza 2017 is a mature red wine boasting a complex bouquet of ripe red and black fruits, balsamic undertones, and a distinctly roasted finish. On the palate, it is flavorful, full-bodied, and all-encompassing. This wine features refined tannins, seamlessly integrated acidity, and a lingering, spicy aftertaste.  

 
2015 Arzuaga Crianza 2015 is an expressive, deep and complex red wine. In this vintage, the aromas of ripe red fruit stand out, well blended with the toasted notes of the aging process. On the palate it is intense, with volume and a lingering and persistent finish.
2012

The palate is concentrated, velvety, round and tasty. Notes of black fruit and fine wood tannins appear. Long, elegant finish.



Dark cherry colour with purple reflections. Clean and bright.



The nose presents fruits, woods, florals and balsamic. Touches of wood due aging and a caramelised background.
2011 Concentrated and flavourful on the palate. Dark fruit and fine woods tannins are present.

Intense cherry colour.

Ripe dark fruit aromas and touches of wood (due to its maceration) are present.
2009 A powerful and well-bodied, very tasty and meaty wine. It has an intense and broad attack and a silky, sweet, fresh, very balanced mid palate. Its notes of fruit are still important but the toasted hints provided by the wood become more expressive than in the nose. Very well structured wine with an excellent acidity. Mellow tannins. Very good finish with a very nice persistence.  An easy-drinking and very friendly inviting Crianza wine.

Intense red cherry colour, with dark red edges and some subtle purple reflections. Clean and bright wine with good dense tears.

Very intense aromas with powerful, expressive and fleshy notes of ripe black fruit wrapped in intense spices such as vanilla and cinnamon, and exotic spices such as cloves and pepper,... Its good toasted hints and the aromas of chocolate and liquorice complete an intense and elegant aromatic set.
2008 Intense, wide and bulky wine with a silky, meaty and very tasty mid palate. Very balanced wine with a slightly strong but pleasant acidity. Polished and well integrated tannins and a long and persistent finish.

Intense cherry red colour with maroon edges. Clean and bright wine with good tears.

Elegant, intense and complex aromas. The ripe red fruit is tinged with elegant toasty aromas of pastries and sweet spices.
2007 Wide and dense attack that fills the mouth. Intense mid palate, full of fruit and creamy notes. Ripe tannins. Balanced and powerful in the mouth. A refined and elegant wine.

Crianza wine with complex aromas. Good presence of black fruit on a background of spiced, roasted and smoked notes provided by the oak, which gain in power with airing.
