About AMI Beaune 1er Cru Champs Pimont
“We would like to make a wine that makes the drinker smile. We want to produce a wine that someone will enjoy drinking as much as we enjoy making”. This is the goal of AMI, a winemaking project set up by sommelier Paul Marchand-Perarnau and winemaker Willy Roulendes, two friends who had already worked together at Clos du Moulin aux Moines, in Auxey Durresses, and having really hit it off, they decided to set up their own winery in 2014 in the Maranges Valley, in the south of the Côte de Beaune. With the name AMI, friend in French, they highlight the links between the people who work both in the field and in the winery to achieve great, pure and lively wines.
Their AMI Beaune 1er Cru Champs Pimont comes from Pinot Noir grapes they bought from a friend in the 1er Cru Champs Pimont. A vineyard composed of clay and limestone and certified organic, lying halfway up the hill overlooking the city. Paul and Willy grow a small batch of very ripe fruit that is enough to produce 3 barrels of wine, and in the winery they carry out a whole cluster maceration for 10-15 days with spontaneous fermentation using native yeasts. The wine is then pressed and aged for 12 months in used French oak barrels. The wine is finally bottled without being refined, filtered or adding sulphur.
Considering that the wines born in the Beaune 1er Cru Les Champs Pimont vineyards, located south of Beaune (Burgundy), are generous, fragrant and long-lasting, AMI Beaune 1er Cru Champs Pimont offers us the best of these characteristics at their most natural. A fragrant, delicate and persistent wine that is a true ode to friendship.
2018 |
AMI Beaune 1er Cru Champs Pimont 2018 is a smooth red wine with intense aromas of black and red fruits accompanied by subtle spicy notes and hints of violets. On the palate it is smooth, silky and delicate. A wine with fine grip, pleasant lingering acidity and very fine, spicy tannins. |
