About Finca Allende
Allende is a red wine from the DO Rioja, made from Tempranillo and prepared by Finca Allende, located near the town of Logroño, capital of the province of La Rioja.
Despite producing wine since 1995, the history of the winery actually had its origin 30 years ago when Miguel Angel Gregorio took over the historic vineyards of Marqués de Murrieta, the first producer of Rioja wine.
The vineyards that were developed by Allende have an average age of 45 years. The soil is clay with grave. Its cultivation is sustainable, using organic fertilizer and mechanical tillage without the use of herbicides.
This vintage had a soft, dry autumn with irregular winter frosts alternating with warm days, a mild and rainy spring and a hot, dry summer. On its production, the selection is made manually.
The clusters are destemmed and not squeezed. Pre-fermentation maceration takes place at 5 ° C for 6 days. The fermentation is controlled at 28 ° C for 10 days in stainless steel, applying movement three times per day.
After fermentation, the grapes are macerated for 16 days with their skins. Gravity is used to conduct a vertical pressing before the malolactic fermentation, which carried out in stainless steel. Finally, Allende is aged for 14 months in French oak Bordeaux barrels. Every four months a transfer is made.

2008 | Serious, lively and balanced yet with power. Spacious and tasty combining fruity freshness and elegant structure. Intense cherry red with purple hues. Sensations of fruit (blackberries, blueberries) together with notes of aging from the oak, this provides flavours of cedar and snuff. |
