About Albet i Noya Lignum Blanc
Albet i Noya Lignum Blanc is a white wine produced by the Albert i Noya winery in the D.O Penedès.
Albert I Noya is a family winery with a great heritage and is situated in Can Vendrell (Tarragona). The winery is also pioneer in organic viticulture on the Spanish wine scene.
Albet i Noya Lignum Blanc is made with a blend of four different varieties: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Xarel.lo. The grapes used come from vineyards planted 300 metres above sea level on calcareous-clay soils poor in organic matter.
The vineyards are cultivated and worked organically, without the use of chemical products and a reduced amount of sulphur in comparison to traditional wineries.
In regards to the production process, the Sauvignon Blanc grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks, while the Chardonnay grapes ferment in barrels. Both varieties ferment for one month. Finally, the Chardonnay grapes undergo a short ageing of 2 months in the barrel.
