Albamar Alma de Mar

Tasting notes Albamar Alma de Mar 2023
White wine Aged in stainless steel Respectful agriculture. 8 meses en depósitos de acero inoxidable.
Albamar Alma de Mar 2023 is a white wine that encapsulates the essence of the Atlantic. Its pale, bright yellow hue catches the eye. Bringing the glass to the nose, fresh aromas of green apple and citrus are prominent, accompanied by a mineral hint reminiscent of the sea. On the palate, it delivers a lively acidity and an enveloping texture, with a persistent saline sensation that evokes seaweed. A refreshing choice with great character.

About Albamar Alma de Mar
Galicia is experiencing its finest hour. A region brimming with talent, passion, and youthful energy, with producers who are striving to offer the world the true treasures that spring from their land. One of these exceptional producers is Xurxo Alba, who, after completing his studies, decided to dedicate himself to tending the vineyards of Cambados in Galicia, seeking out small plots in minifundio that breathe the Atlantic breeze. So much so that even the name of one of his wines, Alma de Mar, already provides a statement of intent.
The albariño grapes that make up Albamar Alma de Mar are sourced from the O Pereiro estate, a plot planted in two stages during the 1980s, where the vines grow on sandy and clay soils, just a few metres from the shore. Respectful agriculture is practised, and the harvest is conducted manually at the optimal moment of ripeness. In the winery, after a gentle pressing, the must ferments spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Then, for 6 months, the wine matures on its fine lees, with frequent bâtonnage to impart body and complexity. Finally, after bottling, it continues to refine in the bottle, ensuring that each sip is a pure reflection of the Galician terroir.
With sustainable viticulture, minimal intervention, and the use of indigenous yeasts, Xurxo has transformed his love for the land into wines brimming with freshness, verve, and that characteristic salinity of Atlantic wines. In Albamar Alma de Mar, he presents it on a silver platter.
