About Alamos Malbec Rosé
If there is one thing Argentines are known for, it is their unique way of life. Any time is a good time to celebrate with friends! When those times come, it is always a good idea to have a bottle of Alamos Malbec on hand so you don’t get caught out.
Since 1993 the Catena Zapata winery has been working under this philosophy, resulting in a range of wines produced from the family’s youngest vines and named after the poplars that protect the vines. However, don’t let this youthfulness fool you, as Catena Zapata has more than a hundred years of tradition behind it. Where others see inexperience, Catena Zapata finds potential. When it comes to the Álamos wines, this potential lies in the Cuyo region, in Mendoza, between 3,000 and 5,000 metres above sea level. Here, at the foot of the Andes Mountains, this winery has found one of the most special places for growing grapes. Translated as ‘Desert Country’, Cuyo has an almost desert-like climate, with little vegetation and significant temperature differences between day and night. Another significant influence is the presence of the Andes, which acts as a barrier to the humid winds from the Pacific and provides the melt water, which is very rich in minerals.
Alamos Malbec avoids great pretensions and aims to be an easy-drinking wine, where only the flavours, aromas and textures of the Malbec stand out. By definition, this is Argentina’s flagship variety, offering a wide range of both aromatic and flavour profiles. This can only be achieved with a simple but high-quality production process, with pre-fermentation maceration and very light aging (barely five months) in French oak barrels.
The Alamos collection is Catena Zapata’s second wine. But don’t let looks deceive you, because the quality and palate put it at the same level as the house’s first wines.

2021 | Alamos Malbec 2021 is a fresh, bright raspberry-coloured rosé, which is very complex, deep and rich on the palate and nose. The experience begins with aromas of cherries, watermelon, grapefruit and herbs. The palate is rich and fruity, creamy, and medium-bodied. Flavoursome. Really quite something. |
