About Abstinence Cape Citrus

South Africa, specifically the Western Cape province, is the world's largest exporter of citrus fruits. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Pierre Strydom and Stefan Coetzee—founders of Abstinence—ventured to this corner of the globe to craft their Abstinence Cape Citrus, a spirit brimming with oranges, lemons, grapefruits, and mandarins. 
 
The quality of the raw materials was one of the most crucial factors this duo considered before giving the green light to their venture. Indeed, few places in the world exist like the Cape Floral Kingdom, an expansive region teeming with birds and species, where aromatic herbs are prominent. Both friends were captivated by this abundance and knew it would be the foundation of something significant. Gradually, this idea evolved into a non-alcoholic project, where each of the botanicals is processed through hydrodistillation. Thanks to this method, where components are separated based on their boiling point, high-quality essential oils are obtained, which are subsequently used in the creation of the spirit. As a result, Abstinence Cape Citrus will exhibit an extraordinary flavour, with scarcely any difference from its alcoholic counterpart.
