About Emilio Moro Finca Resalso

It is the youngest wine of the house and is crafted from the oldest vineyards of the winery. Impossible? We assure you that this oxymoron is more real than ever in Emilio Moro Finca Resalso.

In the heart of Pesquera del Duero (in Valladolid), within the DO. Ribera del Duero, emerges Emilio Moro Finca Resalso, the youngest member of the family, born from the expertise of a family tradition passed down through generations without ever forsaking artisanal knowledge. Indeed, Emilio Moro Finca Resalso is made from tempranillo grapes which, as its name suggests, are cultivated at the Finca Resalso. This vineyard, planted in 1932 (the year the founder Emilio Moro was born), is the oldest of the winery. Nevertheless, this age does not significantly impact the slightly matured profile of Emilio Moro Finca Resalso, as the grapes are harvested from young vines, between five and fifteen years old, growing on a blend of clay, limestone, and stony soils.

However, the true essence of Emilio Moro Finca Resalso is revealed through its very mild barrel ageing, achieving the perfect balance. Its first vintage, released in 1994, was not without controversy, as the decision to keep the wine in contact with the wood for a short period was heavily criticized. Nowadays, it is quite common, but back then Emilio Moro Finca Resalso was the pioneer.

Regarding the rest of the production process, Emilio Moro Finca Resalso stands out for the quality maintained throughout: from the harvest to the fermentation, including maceration with skins (lasting 12 days) and malolactic fermentation (conducted in stainless steel tanks).

Youth is always associated with innocence and inexperience, but we assure you that Emilio Moro Finca Resalso does not conform to this rule. It is neither innocent nor made for novices.
