About Borsao Crianza
Borsao Crianza is a barrel-aged red wine produced by Borsao within the D.O. Campo de Borja (Aragón), crafted from the red grape varieties Garnacha and Syrah.
Established in 2001 following the merger of the region's three cooperatives, Borsao is a winery that specialises in the area's flagship variety: Garnacha. With a logo depicting a rider galloping through the town of Bursao (the ancient name for Borja), it embodies an adventurous spirit eager to gain global recognition.
Borsao Crianza originates from old vineyards planted on the slopes of the Moncayo massif. Vines aged between 20 to 40 years are situated at altitudes of 500-700 metres above sea level, on clay-limestone, stony, and silty soils. Traditional farming methods are employed, and harvesting is conducted manually at the optimal stage of ripeness.
In the winery, each variety in Borsao Crianza is vinified separately. The process involves fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of between 24 and 28°C, with a total maceration period of 15 days. The wine is then aged for 10 months in Bordeaux barrels made of French (90%) and American oak (10%).
Borsao Crianza is a red wine that aptly represents a small DO with its own distinct identity. Pure Garnacha born in the Moncayo.
