About Rietsch Pinot Noir

Rietsch Pinot Noir is a natural monovarietal Pinot Noir red wine from Alsace produced by Domaine Rietsch.

Domaine Rietsch is a small family winery located in Mittelbergheim, Alsace. It was founded in the early 1970s and its vineyards have been certified as organic since 2008. They produce their wines based on the principles of natural winemaking, because they believe that by doing so they can express the character and characteristics of the grapes they work with better, as well as their terroir.

The vineyard for Rietsch Pinot Noir is found in the clay and limestone soils of Mittelbergheim. The grapes are fermented by undergoing a semi-carbonaceous maceration for 16 days because whole bunches have been vatted. Lastly, the wine is aged for 6 months in 1500 litre foudres. All the wine is made without added sulphites.

Rietsch Pinot Noir is a fresh and vibrant wine with a nice body and a lingering finish.
2018 Rietsch Pinot Noir 2018 is a juicy red wine with a beautiful red colour and subtle notes of red forest fruits on the nose. On the palate it is spicy and voluptuous with a light carbonic touch.
2016 Rietsch Pinot Noir 2016 is warm in the nose and nervous, cheerful and voluptuous on the palate. Aromas of red fruit with toasted touches, and a slight carbonated touch on the palate that gives it even more freshness.
