About Curral Teles Mu

In a region defined by the murmur of the river and the silences of schist, there exists a wine that does not replicate each year, for it is born from the human urge to experiment. Its name, a Greek letter: μ (Mu), pays homage to ancient wisdom that explores, experiments, and transforms. This is a wine that does not seek to follow predetermined paths, but rather poses new questions with each harvest.
 
Curral Teles is the name of the winery where Mateus Nicolau de Almeida and Teresa Ameztoy develop this unique series, born from the intersection of tradition and curiosity. From their base in the Portuguese Douro, this family with roots in Rioja and Douro has made the Adega do Sável a space for reflection and creation, where the land is cultivated with mindful hands and the wine is perceived as a living legacy. Carved into schist, their winery is also a statement of principles: here, the soil is honoured, time is respected, and difference is given a place.
 
Curral Teles μ (Mu) is a red wine crafted from a blend of Douro varieties vinified with minimal intervention: the grapes are destemmed, not crushed, and undergo spontaneous fermentation in a 500-litre barrel where they remain in maceration for 18 months. The result is an alternative vision of the Douro, allowing the terroir to speak with its own voice. A wine that presents a clean and bright garnet hue, an expressive bouquet blending warm spices like cinnamon with the freshness of freshly picked grapes, and a fine tannic texture that lingers without overwhelming.
