About Santa Julia La Oveja Torrontes

You can’t just use any old grape to make wine. Nor just any land or any cultivation method. And they are well aware of this. Perhaps this is why Santa Julia wines are so special. This winery lies very close to Mendoza, in Maipú, (Cuyo region), and is where the Zuccardi family continues to experiment and create new wines, writing new chapters in the story of a family that has always been connected to the world of wine. This new era bears the name Julia, the daughter of Alberto Zuccardi, who chose her name to launch this new chapter where natural wines predominate. Their philosophy involves minimal intervention, both in the vineyard and in the winery. The results have been very satisfactory and celebrated by the general public. One of their wines is the Santa Julia La Oveja Torrontés, a white wine that ferments spontaneously with native yeasts and has undergone a 15-day maceration.

The real secret behind Santa Julia La Oveja Torrontés lies in the countryside, specifically in the 180 hectares of vineyards that the winery owns in Maipú. In general, this is a warm area, with good conditions for grape ripening. Without going any further, this is the first plot to be harvested. Growing here is Torrontés, the most widespread white grape in Argentina (and in fact, exclusive to this country).

Zuccardi does not miss a beat. They know exactly what they are doing. But this fresh white knows even better, and is a true reflection of the La Pampa area. Chin chin and cheers!

2021

Santa Julia La Oveja Torrontés 2021 is an aromatic white wine, presenting a yellow hue with medium intensity and greenish reflections. The bouquet is pronounced, offering scents of white fruit (lemon zest) and an array of florals (rose petals, jasmine, and geraniums). On the palate, it is exceedingly refreshing, with a moderate intensity. The finish is extended and imbued with citrus notes.
