About Muradella Blanco

Muradella Blanco is a white wine made by Quinta da Muradella in Verín (Orense), D.O. Monterrei. 


Quinta da Muradella is a project by José Luis Mateo, a simple, honest winemaker with 4 hectares of vineyards planted with native varieties in his 'Quinta'. He started this journey in 1991, in an attempt to understand all of the varieties in his surroundings. For this reason, he joined Raúl Pérez in 2000, and together they started to see all of the opportunities and possible blends in each of the varieties. 


Their philosophy is based on demonstrating all of the characteristics of the landscape through native varieties, which are the best to be able to express the land. To this end, they use organic viticulture, without chemical products such as fertilisers, herbicides or treatments against diseases, following the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. 


Muradella Blanco is a 100% Treixadura planted on slopes up to 400 and 500 metres above sea level, on quartz soils on clay. It is fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel and 500 litre barrels, matured in contact with its lees for nine months before being mixed and aged for 12 months in stainless steel. It is bottled without being filtered.
