About Marcel Deiss Alsace Rouge

Marcel Deiss Alsace Rouge is a biodynamic red wine made with the Pinot Noir variety in the AOC Alsace by Marcel Deiss. 

Located in the town of Bergheim, Marcel Deiss has 20 hectares of vineyards planted with every one of the denomination’s varieties. These are native grapes that they use to produce a wide range of wines that have given this winery the reputation of being one of the area’s best producers. An advocate for the character of the terroir over that of the variety, they seek to produce wines in the most natural way and with minimal intervention.

Marcel Deiss Alsace Rouge comes from ecological vines planted in soils rich in limestone, gravel and granite. They use organic and biodynamic practices, always seeking low yields and maximum respect for the strain’s natural balance. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum moment of ripeness.

The Marcel Deiss Alsace Rouge grapes are destemmed in the winery before being put into the vat. There begins a traditional winemaking process with a gentle extraction of the fruit. Before the wine is bottled, 50% ages in deposits and 50% ages in barrels for 12 months. It is not filtered.

2016 Marcel Deiss Alsace Rouge 2016 is a juicy red wine with aromas of red and black fruit and hints of nutmeg. On the palate it is silky, spicy and expressive, with a long aftertaste full of black fruits.
