About La Inglesa Fino en Rama

Luisa Rebeca de Ward is one of the few women who can be bestowed with the nickname The Lady of Wine. Having arrived from Ireland and married to Diego Estanislao de Alvear y Ponce de León, this young woman, along with her daughter Sabina Alvear y Ward, took the reins of the winery following her husband's death. This is a remarkable achievement today, and its significance was immeasurable in the 19th century. This feat remains alive in the tales of those who recount it (and also those who taste it) thanks to La Inglesa Fino en Rama

Unfiltered and drawn straight from the cask, with a minimum age of five years (with the first two years spent in the traditional concrete amphorae of the D.O. Montilla-Moriles), La Inglesa Fino en Rama is one of the most distinguished wines one can find. Specifically, this fino, which has been nurtured under the veil of flor throughout its maturation, is the youngest of the house. Currently, this company, which presents itself as one of the most promising, is led by the Doblas Alcalá family, who work diligently to revive the history and tradition of this winery. To achieve this, they enlist the help of other greats such as Domecq, Garvey, or Hnos. Paz, from whom they purchase the old barrels where the first pressing must is racked. Unlike other nearby regions such as D.O. Jerez-Sherry, La Inglesa Fino en Rama is produced using Pedro Ximénez grapes and is bottled unfortified.

The half-litre bottle is the perfect measure to become acquainted with La Inglesa Fino en Rama. Only around 25,000 bottles have been released. The good stuff tends to run out… So don't delay!
