About El Reventón La Reina

Behind El Reventón are three wine enthusiasts: Alejandro Vigil, chief winemaker at Catena Zapata and a pioneer in achieving the first 100 Parker points for a South American wine; Adrianna Catena, historian and viticulturist at Bodega Aleanna; and Gearóid Lane, an engineer and advocate for sustainability.

None of them hail from Gredos, nor even from Spain, but when they discovered the Sierra de Gredos, it was love at first sight. It all began more than 15 years ago, when Alejandro Vigil became captivated by the soils, landscapes, and the unique garnacha of the region. His friendship with Dani Landi (of Comando G) allowed him to thoroughly understand the potential of this still underexplored land in Spain and to dream of a project that today is a reality.

This visionary spirit is embodied in El Reventón La Reina, a Parcel Wine born from 40-year-old garnacha vines, in a 6.2-hectare vineyard at an altitude of 820-860 meters, on granitic and sandy soils. Cultivated using organic practices, without pesticides or herbicides, and with minimal intervention to ensure the utmost expression of the terroir. In the winery, the fruit ferments with indigenous yeasts, without oak aging, prioritizing the purity of the fruit and the authentic character of Gredos.

El Reventón La Reina is the result of the union of three perspectives, three paths, and a shared passion: to honor the land, the history, and the grandeur of Gredos.
