About Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux Haut Lie Premier Trie

Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux Haut Lie Premier Trie is a biodynamic, barrel-aged sweet wine made by Domaine Huet with the Chenin Blanc variety in the French denomination AOC Vouvray, in the Loire.
 
Domaine Huet is a winery that was set up in 1928, but it was not until the second generation and Gastón Huet took over that it became one of the largest estates in France. After his death at 92 years of age, the project was taken on by his son-in-law Noël Pinguet with the help of New York businessman Anthony Hwang. Currently, winemaker Jean-Bernard Berthomé has full responsibility in the winery, and he works to highlight these much-loved terroirs using biodynamic agriculture throughout the domain.
 
One of the three crus this winery makes, Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux Haut Lie Premier Trie comes from Le Haut-Lieu. This plot is rich in deep limestone clay and the Chenin Blanc variety is cultivated according to biodynamic principles. The grapes are meticulously cultivated and harvested when very ripe, with some having even botrytized.
 
In the winery, the grapes selected to make Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux Haut Lie Premier Trie are gently pressed and fermented. This process is stopped part way through to leave relatively high amounts of sugar. The wine is then aged for a long time in wooden barrels.
 
The Vouvray region of the Loire Valley is by far the best place for the Chenin Blanc variety to grow and Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux Haut Lie Premier Trie is a world-class sweet wine, with exceptional balance and refinement.

2015 Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux Haut Lie Premier Trie 2015 is a complex sweet wine with concentrated aromas of ripe fruit and mineral notes. On the palate it is vibrant, delicate and deliciously sweet. It reveals a lovely grip and the finish is long, pure and attractively salty.
