About Atamisque Serbal Pinot Noir

For the Celts and other pagan cultures, the rowan was a protective tree that was planted mainly near entrances to ward off evil spirits and spells. It is also known as “Lady of the Mountains” because it often grows in the most inhospitable places and has extraordinary characteristics both in its flowers, colours and height. Using this symbolic and unique concept, Atamisque, the winery set up by French couple John and Chantal Du Monceau in the town of Tupungato, in Mendoza (Argentina), have launched a new range of wines characterised by their youth and fruitiness.

Atamisque Serbal Pinot Noir is a single-variety Pinot Noir from vineyards lying 1,300 metres above sea level on soils of alluvial origin, with a rocky substrate and upper layers with a sandy loam texture. They are cultivated using respectful agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness. In the winery, the grapes are cold macerated for 5 days and fermentation takes place over 14 days at 22ºC in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation happens there and the wine is aged on the lees for 6 months.

Taking into account all the knowledge that Chantal acquired from her grandfather, a winemaker from the Beaujolais region, Atamisque Serbal Pinot Noir has all the identity of the Uco Valley with the French influence of Burgundy.

Atamisque Serbal Pinot Noir 2020 is a juicy red wine with delicious aromas of cherries and sour cherries, violet notes and spicy hints. On the palate it is flavoursome, smooth and persistent. A light wine with lively acidity, soft, velvety tannins and a long, pleasant finish.
